Here's what you need to know about Mass Intentions at Queen of Angels... Read more

MASS BOOK 2021-2022 : On Wednesday, September 8th, the Mass book for September 2021 to August 2022, will be open for intentions. An individual may ask to offer a Mass intention for several reasons: for example, in thanksgiving, for the intentions of another person living or deceased (such as on a birthday or anniversary), or, as is most common, for the repose of the soul of someone who has died. When we face the death of someone, even a person who is not Catholic, to have a Mass offered for the repose of his soul and to offer our prayers are more beneficial and comforting than any other sympathy card or bouquet of flowers. To have a Mass offered on the occasion of a birthday, anniversary or special need is appropriate, beneficial and appreciated. You many stop by the rectory during office hours to make these arrangements. The Stipend for each is as follows: Masses - $15; Bread & Wine - $25; Sanctuary Candles - $25; Altar Flowers - $50; Purgatorial Society - $25 Remember...#WeAreQ...

Every One Will Call Her Blessed... Unveiling the Queen of Angels Chasuble

IT'S THE FIRST OF ITS KIND -The unveiling of the new Chasuble for Queen of Angels was planned by parishioners to help inspire the Community to know Mary, who leads us to Christ. Once a year, the statue is brought out during the week of August 22nd. It was the Very Rev. Brian P. Dowd VF, who continues encourage his Lay Leadership to develop the Mission of the Parish from her name, and made sure the statue is seen during the whole month of May for the Crowning of Mary, and the month of August for the Feast of the Queenship of Mary.  This statue is unique. The artist, Bishop Denning, wanted her to have angel wings. A mystery to the leadership, and historians from the Diocese, there is no written account for Bishop Denning to imagine Mary in this way.  Inspired by this image, her name, history, and our Pastor's interpretation of our Mission, a group of donors had these two custom made chasubles produced - one for our Pastor, and one for our Parish.  In a speech honoring the V...

Preparations for Our Lenten Journey

Queen of Angels is working hard to prepare our Parishioners for our Lenten Journey. One of the ways you can take part in the activities is looking at our website, where you will find our DEVOTION SECTION  to use during your visit to the Church for Prayer or Mass.  Parishioners and visitors can use their IPhone or Android devices to connect to our DEVOTION SECTION , by using the QR Codes that's posted in front of the pews.  We've included two items on our DEVOTION SECTION : An icon for Reflections during Lent, and an icon for the Way of the Cross (English & Spanish). You can see for yourself by clicking on our  DEVOTION SECTION , and choose either English or Spanish links.  You can also click on the icons on this page and see for yourself.  Spread the word to family and friends in Sunnyside! It Was A Dreamer Who Thought It Up... Using QR Coding at the Church

The Dreamers Club Youth Group - part of Queen of Angels Youth Ministry - has always pushed our young people to think inside and outside the box. Our Motto is always to "Be A Dreamer"...  Imagine coming to Church for Mass, or for prayer before the Tabernacle or Sanctuary, and you find no Missalette, a Prayer Book, or a Bible. That's exactly what has happened to many Catholic Church in New York City - it left us with a sense of doubt. In a conversation with Amanda Dos Santos, and Lili Rodriguez, we discussed some of the ways we could promote these materials during Covid. It was Liliana who suggested to using clear projector paper, and print the QR Codes. All we had to do was direct parishioners in using the QR Codes before, during, and after the Mass. Parishioners would have the option of choosing English or Spanish.\You can find the Readings of the Mass, how to follow and respond at Mass and Holy Hour, How to pray the Rosary, and the Miraculous Medal N...

How the Dreamers Club Started - Beginning of Queen of Angels Youth Ministry

By Juan Rodriguez I wanted to write down my thoughts of how "The Dreamers Club" started.  I am sharing this with you, because you may know of some leader wanting to start a group in their parish. I share it with you, because ideas for the group belong to the Holy Spirit and the Church. Even if a leader does not use the ideas, the methods of developing a group from scratch can be used in creating a Comprehensive Plan for a youth group, young adult group, or youth ministry. I am going to share it with the DHT Extension, because this group was created using the series "Renew Your Vision". The Dreamers Club is another experiment, showing you that the US Catholic Bishops and the leaders who put together the document "Renewing the Vision", were RIGHT! Members of DHT are excited by these writing, so we wanted to put it in action, helping to interpret the documents at a parish level. This post is just a draft - just my thoughts about how "The Dreamers Club...

With Gratitude...

On Sunday, June 21st, Fr. Dowd announced to the public during Sunday Mass that Msgr Jonas Achacoso will be leaving Queen of Angels Parish for his new assignment as the Pastor of Corpus Christi in Woodside NY . We are proud of this announcement. We wish Msgr. Achacoso our prayers, and support. Msgr. Achacoso wrote to the Parishioners in this weeks Bulletin: "'Swift fly the years' in the words of a poet. At the end of my ministry in Queen of Angels, I thank everyone who has made those years fly so quickly because I was truly having fun as I enjoyed so much kindness, generosity and friendship with the parishioners. I started coming to this parish from the summers of 2007 to 2013. Then I was as part-time parochial vicar from 2014 to 2020. So, it’s a total of 14 years of my life from which I treasure so many happy memories. Queen of Angels and Sunnyside has been and will be a home for me. Queen of Angels Youth Visit the Old House of Blessed Solanus Casey

Members of Queen of Angels Confirmation & Youth Ministry took this week of vacationing to do a spiritual pilgrimage to the Parish of St Michael & St Malachy in Brooklyn, to visit the Old House where Fr Solanus Casey used to live, be the Porter, and help the needy of the area. As Queen of Angels Youth Ministry has been going through a renewal, we decided to start the year on the Theme of “Holiness”. Q of  A Youth Ministry has been working on plans to promote the Vocation to Holiness - since our youth are in preparation to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation - they choose a Saint to talk with them, to guide and pray for them. But that’s not enough - like having lots of great friends, the more saints you have blessing you, the closer you get to Christ. The friends of Jesus will always draw bring you to the Lord. At the Dreamers Club, the main spiritual youth group for Queen of Angels Youth Ministry, members are watching the “Green Lantern: Animated Series”, while u...
