Feel at home: Welcome Statement for our Filipino Community.

Another Community that have been a big part at Queen of Angels Church, in Sunnyside, NY, is the Filipino Community. A couple weeks back, Pastoral Associate, Juan Rodriguez, spoke to the Filipino Community about exploring ways to bringing our people closer through our Spiritual connection with Queen of Angels. One of the ways is expressing our Welcome to the Filipino Community in their language. With the help of our friend, Jonathan Louie Ong, we were able to translate our Welcome Statement from English to Tagalog.

On our Queen of Angels website, viewers will see a large section or icon that is in rotation. Every minute a new icon appears - three of them will be welcome statements for our English, Spanish, Bengali, and now in Tagalog, for our Filipino parishioners. Coming soon will be our Welcome Statement in Hindi.

Here is a sample of our Welcome Statement in English and Tagalog. Thank you, Jonathan Ong, and many blessings to you and your family!

Stay tuned for more!

Every One Will Call Her Blessed... Unveiling the Queen of Angels Chasuble

IT'S THE FIRST OF ITS KIND -The unveiling of the new Chasuble for Queen of Angels was planned by parishioners to help inspire the Community to know Mary, who leads us to Christ. Once a year, the statue is brought out during the week of August 22nd. It was the Very Rev. Brian P. Dowd VF, who continues encourage his Lay Leadership to develop the Mission of the Parish from her name, and made sure the statue is seen during the whole month of May for the Crowning of Mary, and the month of August for the Feast of the Queenship of Mary.  This statue is unique. The artist, Bishop Denning, wanted her to have angel wings. A mystery to the leadership, and historians from the Diocese, there is no written account for Bishop Denning to imagine Mary in this way.  Inspired by this image, her name, history, and our Pastor's interpretation of our Mission, a group of donors had these two custom made chasubles produced - one for our Pastor, and one for our Parish.  In a speech honoring the V...

Preparations for Our Lenten Journey

Queen of Angels is working hard to prepare our Parishioners for our Lenten Journey. One of the ways you can take part in the activities is looking at our website, where you will find our DEVOTION SECTION  to use during your visit to the Church for Prayer or Mass.  Parishioners and visitors can use their IPhone or Android devices to connect to our DEVOTION SECTION , by using the QR Codes that's posted in front of the pews.  We've included two items on our DEVOTION SECTION : An icon for Reflections during Lent, and an icon for the Way of the Cross (English & Spanish). You can see for yourself by clicking on our  DEVOTION SECTION , and choose either English or Spanish links.  You can also click on the icons on this page and see for yourself.  Spread the word to family and friends in Sunnyside! It Was A Dreamer Who Thought It Up... Using QR Coding at the Church

The Dreamers Club Youth Group - part of Queen of Angels Youth Ministry - has always pushed our young people to think inside and outside the box. Our Motto is always to "Be A Dreamer"...  Imagine coming to Church for Mass, or for prayer before the Tabernacle or Sanctuary, and you find no Missalette, a Prayer Book, or a Bible. That's exactly what has happened to many Catholic Church in New York City - it left us with a sense of doubt. In a conversation with Amanda Dos Santos, and Lili Rodriguez, we discussed some of the ways we could promote these materials during Covid. It was Liliana who suggested to using clear projector paper, and print the QR Codes. All we had to do was direct parishioners in using the QR Codes before, during, and after the Mass. Parishioners would have the option of choosing English or Spanish.\You can find the Readings of the Mass, how to follow and respond at Mass and Holy Hour, How to pray the Rosary, and the Miraculous Medal N...
