Don't Go Hungry During Lent

Parishioners at Queen of Angels Church, like Chef Graciela Shapiro, are whipping some delicious food and inspiring our Community to make your Lenten Season spiritual journey. Food plays a big part in that journey, especially on Ash Wednesday, every Friday during Lent, and on Good Friday, where the Community enter into spiritual practice of Fasting, Abstaining from Meat, and living the Gospel Message of Love. It's not easy to do, but when we give of ourselves to Jesus, and to the Motherly care of our Queen, the journey becomes an awesome experience.

Chef Shapiro was inspired to post this up on our Q of A Facebook group - it's one of her favorite dishes for Friday during the Lenten Season:
Steamed Ginger-Scallion Fish
1.2 pound European bass
1.5 tablespoon Avocado oil
1/2 tablespoon Rice cooking wine
2 tablespoon Cilantro
1.5 pcs. Scallions
1.5 tablespoon of fresh Ginger
1.5 tablespoon of Soy Sauce

Here's what you need to know about Mass Intentions at Queen of Angels... Read more

MASS BOOK 2021-2022 : On Wednesday, September 8th, the Mass book for September 2021 to August 2022, will be open for intentions. An individual may ask to offer a Mass intention for several reasons: for example, in thanksgiving, for the intentions of another person living or deceased (such as on a birthday or anniversary), or, as is most common, for the repose of the soul of someone who has died. When we face the death of someone, even a person who is not Catholic, to have a Mass offered for the repose of his soul and to offer our prayers are more beneficial and comforting than any other sympathy card or bouquet of flowers. To have a Mass offered on the occasion of a birthday, anniversary or special need is appropriate, beneficial and appreciated. You many stop by the rectory during office hours to make these arrangements. The Stipend for each is as follows: Masses - $15; Bread & Wine - $25; Sanctuary Candles - $25; Altar Flowers - $50; Purgatorial Society - $25 Remember...#WeAreQ

Every One Will Call Her Blessed... Unveiling the Queen of Angels Chasuble

IT'S THE FIRST OF ITS KIND -The unveiling of the new Chasuble for Queen of Angels was planned by parishioners to help inspire the Community to know Mary, who leads us to Christ. Once a year, the statue is brought out during the week of August 22nd. It was the Very Rev. Brian P. Dowd VF, who continues encourage his Lay Leadership to develop the Mission of the Parish from her name, and made sure the statue is seen during the whole month of May for the Crowning of Mary, and the month of August for the Feast of the Queenship of Mary.  This statue is unique. The artist, Bishop Denning, wanted her to have angel wings. A mystery to the leadership, and historians from the Diocese, there is no written account for Bishop Denning to imagine Mary in this way.  Inspired by this image, her name, history, and our Pastor's interpretation of our Mission, a group of donors had these two custom made chasubles produced - one for our Pastor, and one for our Parish.  In a speech honoring the Very Re

With Gratitude...

On Sunday, June 21st, Fr. Dowd announced to the public during Sunday Mass that Msgr Jonas Achacoso will be leaving Queen of Angels Parish for his new assignment as the Pastor of Corpus Christi in Woodside NY . We are proud of this announcement. We wish Msgr. Achacoso our prayers, and support. Msgr. Achacoso wrote to the Parishioners in this weeks Bulletin: "'Swift fly the years' in the words of a poet. At the end of my ministry in Queen of Angels, I thank everyone who has made those years fly so quickly because I was truly having fun as I enjoyed so much kindness, generosity and friendship with the parishioners. I started coming to this parish from the summers of 2007 to 2013. Then I was as part-time parochial vicar from 2014 to 2020. So, it’s a total of 14 years of my life from which I treasure so many happy memories. Queen of Angels and Sunnyside has been and will be a home for me. I ask your prayers as I respond to the call of service to Corpus Christi – Woodside ef
